• Heavy rains and resultant floods affected approximately 1.7 million people across all of Chad’s 23 provinces between July and September.

• Approximately 3.4 million people were projected to experience Crisis—Phase 3— or worse levels of acute food insecurity between June and August, representing a nearly 80 percent increase from the prior year. USAID/BHA partner WFP reached more than 862,000 people with food assistance during this period.

• Nearly 652,000 Sudanese refugees and an estimated 222,700 Chadian returnees had entered Chad from Sudan as of September 30, exacerbating humanitarian needs in eastern Chad, UNHCR reports.
