FAO in the 2019 humanitarian appeal: The Central African Republic - Humanitarian Response Plan 2017–2019
900 000 people
USD 30.5 million
January – December 2019
The resurgence of violence in the Central African Republic since the end of 2017 has further exacerbated the humanitarian needs of already vulnerable communities, which have continued to rise mainly due to increased insecurity, forced population displacements and limited access to basic social services.
FAO is working with partners of the Food Security Cluster to:
• Improve the availability and access to food for vulnerable, severely food‑insecure people.
• Strengthen the resilience of vulnerable populations against food crises, and support the recovery of livelihoods and emergency agricultural production.
• Increase needs assessments, monitoring and early warning mechanisms, and ensure access to information on the evolving food security situation.
