The crisis has forced an estimated 146 000 people since December 2013 into Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Republic of Congo bringing the number of Central African refugees in neighbouring countries to over 388 000.

The Commission increased its humanitarian funding to EUR 51 million since the outbreak of the violence in December 2013 with focus on relief assistance to displaced people, including EUR 10 million to meet basic needs of refugees in neighbouring countries.

The EU (Member States and the EC) is the largest donor of humanitarian assistance to the country with funding of over EUR 100 million in 2013/14.
