Inter-community violence that erupted on 26 September has caused more than Zone 60 deaths and more than 300 the Central African capital. More than 37,000 people have taken refuge in sites, bringing the number of displaced persons in Bangui to a total of almost 65,000. 19,000 people are sheltered at the Mpoko site near the airport which was already hosting some 11,000 people. After the latest violence, some 417,000 people are internally displaced in CAR.
injured in The violence has caused panic in the capital, where a curfew has been imposed. The looting of several NGOs and international organi-sations offices and residences has taken place during the violence.
