Central African Republic - Displacements (DG ECHO, UN OCHA, INSO, Partners ACF, DRC, COOPI) (ECHO Daily Flash of 24 June 2025)

  • The Central African Red Cross launched an alert on the extreme violence in the area around Bozoum (Ouham-Pendé region), which has been erupting since mid-June.
  • Approximately 5,000-6,000 people are taking refuge in Bozoum, trying to escape violence and retaliation of a nongovernmental armed group. People are in need of water, shelter, and health assistance and have requested the government to support them.
  • On 19 June, charity organisations provided a preliminary response with food and basic hygiene items.
  • On the same day, new military actions by non-state armed groups (NSAGs) caused three civilian deaths, additional looting and houses burned in the same area. DG ECHO partners are rapidly assessing the needs and stand ready to respond in a coordinated framework.
