  • On 11 February, a UN attack helicopter engaged a rebel group near Ngawa, 12 km of Ippy (Eastern CAR), when the latter crossed the “red line” (40 km around Bambari) as stipulated by the UN mission. Four pickup trucks were destroyed. The number of casualties is not yet known. First reports indicate related population movement from Ippy to Bambari. Humanitarian needs assessments will be launched as soon as feasible since there is currently no access to the area.

  • The humanitarian situation in the Central African Republic remains very difficult with almost half of the population still in need of humanitarian assistance and about 20% of the population still displaced.
