The security situation remains volatile throughout the country. Renewed tension and the escalation of violence in the interior of the country, in particular in the town of Bambari, have triggered new displacements. Humanitarian operations continue to be severely constrained by insecurity and serious funding gaps. Total IDP figures remain high, with nearly one million people displaced internally and across borders. Hundreds of CAR refugees continue to arrive in Cameroon every week; a recent survey showed that 36 per cent of site-resident IDPs in CAR intend to remain in displacement sites.
