Portuguese Government help Cape Verde tackle dengue fever epidemic
The Ministry of Health and the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs will send a health care team to Cape Verde, following
the appeal for international assistance the Cape Verdian Government launched
yesterday in response to the outbreak of dengue fever in the country.
This team of four doctors and four nurses from the Coimbra University Hospitals, and headed by specialist in Emergency and Intensive Care Dr. Joao Paulo Almeida e Sousa will leave next Saturday evening for Praia, where it will join Professor Kamal Mansinho, a specialist in Infectious Diseases already in Cape Verde.
The Portuguese Government express its solidarity given the seriousness of the situation that according to the latest figures available, has already affected more than 9 thousand people.
The Portuguese Cooperation will remain vigilant to the latest developments and the need for further assistance.
