Adding to the situations faced in the Central Sahel and Lake Chad Basin, the exacerbation of conflict in the East of DRC this quarter prompted an L3 emergency declaration there, and both Chad and CAR are further and increasingly impacted by the spillover of the Sudan crisis since April.

The Central Sahel crisis continues to deteriorate. In Burkina Faso alone, 23.48 % of schools are now closed due to Insecurity, and the number of refugees requiring education assistance in the coastal countries (Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Togo, Benin) has reached approximately 19,686 (54% of total refugees).

While resource mobilization for EiE is underway, the funding gap remains a major challenge for the response (only 10% of the funding required has been provided in cluster countries, up from 5% in the first quarter).
