HUMANITARIAN OVERVIEW
The Far North region was severely affected by floods in 2024, impacting over 448,000 people, including 152,376 children. The floods damaged or destroyed 56,084 houses, 262 schools, and 65 health centers, further compounding the challenges faced by already vulnerable communities. UNHCR recorded 88,850 people affected by the floods on 13 IDP sites in Kousseri2 and 7 sites in Logone Birni.3 68 per cent are children. 83 per cent of respondents expressed their intention to return to their area of origin. Despite difficult access, vaccination and birth registration continued with UNICEF support.
The Government, local authorities, and humanitarian organizations are providing assistance to those affected
