As of December 2025, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria were hosting an estimated 6,431,102 affected individuals made up of more than 3.2 million internally displaced persons (IDPs), more than 2.6 million returnees (former IDPs and returnees from abroad) and more than half a million of refugees (both in- and out-of-camp). Seventy-one per cent of IDPs were located in Nigeria (2,292,477 IDPs), 16 per cent in Cameroon (510,855 IDPs), 7 per cent resided in Chad (233,989 IDPs) and 6 per cent in Niger (174,208 IDPs). Compared to December 2024, the numbers show an increase in IDPs in Cameroon (+7%), Chad (+6%), Nigeria (+2%) and a decrease in Niger (-18%).
