Attachments

Highlights

  • From January 2023 to February 2024, retail fuel and diesel prices rose by 33.3% and 44.0% respectively.

  • This rise is mainly due to the progressive reduction in fuel subsidies carried out by the Government, following commitments made under the ECF/EFF program with the IMF.

  • In 2023, inflation reached 7.4%, driven by inflation in food prices (11.1%), transport prices and services (15.0%).

  • Between 2022 and 2023, the food Minimum Expenditure Basket (MEB) value rose by an average of 12% in the crisis affected regions of North-West and South-West, and by 3% in the other crisis affected regions.

  • In the mid-term, WFP Cameroon's funding requirements to meet its objectives are likely to grow significantly.
