In Cameroun, in 2024, approximately 3.4 million people were in urgent need of assistance and protection due to the humanitarian impacts of armed conflict, violence, climate shocks, and disease outbreaks. The Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) aimed to assist 2.3 million of the most vulnerable individuals and requires USD371.4 million in funding.

The situation in the Far North, North-West, and South-West regions, along with the effects of the Central African Republic (CAR) refugee crisis in the eastern regions, continued to impact the lives of women, girls, men, and boys, including people with disabilities.

New, multiple, or prolonged displacements, combined with limited access to basic goods and essential services and insufficient resources, worsened the well-being and living conditions of IDPs, returnees, refugees and local communities in crisis-affected areas.

Over the course of the year, humanitarian assistance reached 1.7 million vulnerable people in crisis-affected areas in the Far North, North-West, South-West, and eastern facade regions, provided to various extents by 194 organizations, the majority of which were national (77 per cent). According to FTS, USD 167.2 million was allocated to the response, representing 45 percent of the required funding.

The response analysis showed an increase in the number of people reached from 1.2 million during the same reporting period in 2023 to 1.7 million in 2024, showcasing the strong efforts made by humanitarian organizations to prioritize and focus on most severe needs and affected populations and increase effective and quality assistance to affected populations.

The CERF secretariat allocated 4 million USD under the “Rapid Response” window to intensify the response operations to the floods in the Far North regions, in addition to USD 7 million from the “Underfunded Emergencies” window, and USD 1.5 million from the “Climate” envelope for life-saving humanitarian activities in the Far North, North-West and South-West regions.
