SITUATION OVERVIEW

In 2024, an estimated 3.4 million people in Cameroon require urgent assistance and protection due to the humanitarian impact of conflict and violence, climate shocks and/or disease outbreaks. The Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) targets 2.3 million of the most vulnerable people and requires USD 371.4 million.
Insecurity and violence in the Far North, North-West and South-West regions as well as the consequences of Central African Republic (CAR) refugee crisis in the eastern regions continue to affect the lives of women, girls, men and boys in crisis-affected regions, including persons with disabilities.
More than one million people are internally displaced. New, multiple and protracted displacements, coupled with access constraints to basic goods and essential services and insufficient resources contribute to the deterioration of the well-being and living conditions of local communities in crisis-affected areas. The country also hosts nearly half a million refugees and asylum seekers.
Since the beginning of the year, humanitarian assistance reached 1,5 million people in crisis-affected areas in the Far North, North-West, South-West and Eastern regions. According to Financial Tracking Service (FTS), USD 142,8 million has been allocated to the response, representing 38 percent of the required funding1 .
Since the beginning of the year, 168 organizations reported implementing activities, the majority of which are national organisations (75 per cent).
The response analysis shows an increase in the number of people reached from 952,000 to 1.5 million during the same reporting period in 2023. This confirms the strong efforts made by humanitarian organisations to provide rapid and quality assistance to affected populations. However, the number of humanitarian partners reporting has decreased compared to 2023, the limiting overall visibility on response monitoring results.
