SITUATION OVERVIEW
In 2024, some 3.4 million people living in Cameroon, affected by the impact of conflict and violence, climate shocks or disease outbreaks, need humanitarian assistance and protection. The Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) targets 2.3 million of the most vulnerable people and requires US$ 371.4 million.
The Lake Chad basin conflict, the North-West and South-West crises, and the consequences of the Central African Republic (CAR) refugee crisis continue to impact the lives of women, girls, men and boys in affected areas, including persons with disabilities.
More than one million people are internally displaced persons (IDPs). New or multiple displacements and insufficient resources contribute to affect local communities’ well-being and living conditions in crises affected regions. The country is also generously hosting nearly half a million refugees and asylum seekers.
In the second trimester of 2024, 879,000 people have been reached by the humanitarian response in crisis-affected areas in the Far North, North-West, South-West and eastern regions. According to FTS1 84.3 million USD has been allocated to the response, representing 23 per cent of the required funding.
154 humanitarian partners are operating in the country, providing ongoing life-saving assistance to local communities in support of government efforts. Out of those 115 are national/local organizations contributing to the response.
