Cameroon Education Cluster: Northwest & Southwest Updates - Operational Presence & Reach (December 2025)

In December 2025, 14 Education Cluster partners implemented non-formal education activities in 12 out of 13 Divisions and reached a total of 15.960 persons. Among them, 1,536 (10%) people benefited from the cluster

activities for the first time, with 14,424 (90%) repeated from previous months. Of the total reached, 15,960 persons reached, 14,997 (94%) were children reached with non-formal education. 611 (4%) persons living with

disabilities were reached, with 62 being those reached for the first time. December 2025 witnessed a 36.5% decrease in persons reached compared to November 2025.

The top three Divisions with the most reach were Ngo-Ketunjia with 2,658 (17%) individuals reached, covered by 4 partners (GLOCIR, GPA, SHUMAS, & SENHOFA) in Babessi, Balimkumbat & Ndop Subdivisions.

This is closely followed by Mezam, where 2,640 (16.5%) individuals were reached, covered by 3 partners (GCLOCIR, GPA, & WESAD) in Bali, Bamenda I, Bamenda II, Tubah & Santa Subdivisions. The

third is Donga-Mantung, where 2,493 (16%) beneficiaries were reached, covered by 2 partners (SHUMAS & GPA) in Ako, Ndu, & Nkambe. Activities were not reported in Momo Division.

Fourteen (14) cluster partners reported cluster activities supported by 13 donors (UNICEF, UNESCO, WFP, European Union (EU), Education Cannot Wait (ECW), SIDA, Building Schools for Africa, Global GLOW, NORAD, LEICHTENSTEIN, A2EMPOWERMENT, Norwegian Refugee Council, PAID-WA) implemented activities in 12 Divisions and covered 33 subdivisions. Some of the major activities implemented by the partners were: radio education programme and alternative education platforms, which reached 14,997 (94%) children, with 52% girls, and 48% boys. A total of 2,099 (13%) reported receiving learning materials bags, books, pens, and pencils. That is, 54% girls and 46% boys. The revitalization of school management committees reached 1,700 persons (750 females and 950 males).

NORTH WEST REGION: GPA trained 13 facilitators took part in a two-day capacity-building workshop on PSEA and the Feedback and Complaint Mechanism, organized by SHUMAS. Five (5) Schools in Mezam Division benefited from their TaRL program with the participation of 213 children in basic

literacy and Numeracy. Additionally, GPA continued distributing learning materials in 31 TLS for L1. They completed the distribution of Learning materials to L1 Children. (3,210) Children. GPA received PSEA messages from UNICEF to be shared in the TLS to improve the community's Knowledge on the

prevention of Sexual exploitation and abuse. They continued their sustainability program with UNESCO Temporary Learning Spaces with digital learning. COHESODEC distributed learning material in Bafut, Wum, and Njinikom to level 1 and level 2. Had 9 facilitators trained on disability by CBC in Bamenda. Operationalization of 30 learning spaces in Bafut, Santa, Wum, and Njinikom. SHUMAS conducted a practical session for in-school children studying Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in the Science laboratory in Kumbo for 23 students (13 girls, 10 boys). They implemented TaRL classes for 150 out-of-school children in four communities to improve access to accelerated education in Babessi Subdivision. SHUMAS offered training to parents/caregivers of children who received income-generating activities support and will soon receive support for various income-generating activities to help them provide for their children's educational needs in formal schools. SHUMAS conducted a feasibility study for the construction of classrooms at CBC Mbow in Babessi Subdivision. Some local materials have been assembled at the project site. Monitored UNICEF's ECHO II project activities in 36 Temporary Learning Spaces (TLSs) across six divisions of the Northwest Region of Cameroon. Four (4) youths benefited from ICT training (3 males, 1 female) in Bui, specifically in Kumbo Subdivision.

SOUTH WEST REGION: HADY is currently carrying out a data management training with selected organizations from the South West (10) and North West (10) on Excel, Power BI, and others. They also monitored UNICEF's ECHO II project in the subdivisions of the South West Region. TeenAlive continued with the implementation of Learning activities are going on in their TLS in Tiko, Muyuka, Lebialem, and Bagem, as well as a Child-friendly space in Misellelle.

AMEF continued with non-formal educational activities and conducted catch-up classes for children that just integrated formal education. A total of 350 learners participated in these catch-up classes in Meme and Mamfe, and they are taught 3 times a week. PAID-WA disseminated alternative materials in TLS as part of their sustainability programme for the just-ended UNESCO fund. Vocational skills training was included as one of the sustainability programme, which includes Fashion designing and Tailoring. FIED continued the implementation of UNICEF's ECHO II project in 26 TLS and distributed dignity kits to school children in Konya. NADEF carried out a Gender transformative program in Kumba and distributed dignity kits to women and girls. Good Hope Charity Organization continued with child protection clubs in schools in Mile 16.

QFF continued with teaching and learning activities across their 26 TLS under the UNICEF's ECHO II project in the South West. Through awareness-raising sessions, children gained knowledge on how to report GBV and the available channels for GBV reporting. This also equipped them with knowledge on how to protect themselves and report when there is a GBV attempt against them. QFF's school feeding program is ongoing in Wabane, where the produce from the school farm is used to feed the pupils from time to time to encourage enrollment and retention of the pupils. Lead Child Africa assisted children with learning materials, paid school fees in Idenau and Misellelle.

A total of 14,997 children (7,816 girls and 7,181 boys) accessed non-formal education through the education cluster partners in the North West and South West Regions. Out of the above number, 5,992(40%) were reached in the South West Region, while 9,005 (60%) of the children were reached in the North West Region.
