Cameroon - Child Protection AoR: North West & South West Regions 5Ws Monthly Reach and Operational Presence: Operational Maps, April 2025

In April 2025, 22 AoR partners (13 in the SW, 11 in the NW; 2 partners reported from both regions) supported AoR activities and reached 22,247 persons (9,085 children, 10,388 adults and 3,014 elderly), compared to March 2025 when they reached 19,704 persons, with a 11.4% increase in people reached. Out of the 9,085 children reached, 50% (11,156) were reported from the South West and 50%(11,091) were reported from the North West. 57%(12,699) of the persons reached were females while 43%(9,548) were males. 79% of cluster projects/activities implemented were HNO/HRP projects, while 21% were Non-HNO/HRP projects. The top 3 activities implemented included the identification and implementation of measures to prevent risks of violence, abuse and exploitation of children reached 22,247 persons, comprising 12,485 (57%) females, 9,642 (43%) males, 9,085 (40%) children, 10,388 (46%) adults, and 3,014 (13%) elderly. Among children, 3,984 (18%) were boys while 5,101 (23%) were girls. Out of the 22,247, 11,091 (50%) were reached in the North West, while 11,156 (50%) were reached in the South West. The partners who implemented this activity included: Caritas Bamenda, CES, Caritas Kumba, FIED, LAW Cameroon, and TeenAlive Association. The CPAoR partners provided mental health and psychosocial support to children and their caregivers and reached 16,119 persons (58% females, 42% males), including 67% children, 32% adults, and 2% elderly). 5,637 (35%) were reached in the NW, and 10,482 (65%) were reached in the SW. The partners who implemented this activity included BIHAPH, CAFEDO, Caritas Bamenda, CBCHS, CES, GLOCIR, H4BF, Caritas Kumba, FIED, LOCIR, ADY, NIHSED, REVACAM, and TeenAlive Association. Caritas Bamenda NRC distributed birth certificates to 610 children, that is 335 (55%) girls and 275 (45%) boys, Caritas Bamenda (271) and NRC (339). The subdivisions in which birth certificates were distributed included: Njinikom (45), Wum (73), Bafut (69), Bamenda 3 (34), and Babessi (50). To strengthen the referral mechanism, the AoR started the process of service mapping of partners who are able to provide pertinent and time-sensitive services to children referred to their services.

In April 2025, 22 AoR partners implemented child protection activities in all 12 out of 13 Divisions of the NWSW. These partners include NRC, Plan International, BIHAPH, CAFEDO, Caritas Bamenda, Caritas Kumba, REACH BACK, CASAF, CBCHS, CES, GLOCIR, H4BF, HEDECS, LAW Cameroon, NIHSED, QFF, SHUMAS, TeenAlive Association, Revive Action Cameroon (REVACAM), Finders Group Initiative (FGI), Humanitarian Association of Dynamic Youths (HADY), Foundation for Inclusive Education (FIED).

54% of the partners reported from the SWR, and 46% reported from the NWR. A total of 36 subdivisions were covered compared to March, when 37 subdivisions were covered. The top 3 Divisions covered were Menchum with 23% (5,161), Lebialem with 23% (5,126) and Fako with 20% (4,349). The 3 Divisions with the lowest reach were Momo, Bui, and Ndian.

16,119 persons (58% females, 42% males, including 67% children, 33% adults, 3% elderly and 2% persons with disabilities) were reached with mental health and psychosocial support only. MHPSS services provided included: positive parenting, recreational activities for children, and psychosocial counselling.
