PEOPLE IN NEED 3.4M
PEOPLE TARGETED 2.3M
REQUIREMENTS (US$)$371.4M
CONTEXT
In 2024, some 3.4 million people living in Cameroon are in need of humanitarian assistance and protection. Among people in need, the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) is targeting 2.3 million most vulnerable people and requires US$ 371.4 million.
The HRP prioritizes life-saving assistance, and protection services, for people with the most severe needs in most affected areas. Livelihood and resilience building support are additional pillars, to build the ground for crisis-affected people to meet their basic needs and reinforce capacities to withstand future stresses and shocks.
People in need are affected by the impact of conflict and violence, climate shocks, and disease outbreaks.
The Lake Chad basin conflict, the North-West and SouthWest crisis, and the consequences of the Central African Republic (CAR) refugee crisis continue to impact the lives of women, girls, men and boys in affected areas.
Some 2.5 million people are projected to face acute food insecurity in 2024. Nearly one million people are internally displaced persons (IDPs). The country is also generously hosting nearly half a million refugees and asylum seekers.
Humanitarian needs are compounded by structural development weaknesses and chronic vulnerabilities, that further challenge the long-term recovery of affected people.
