According to the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), as of 8 January 2026, approximately 475,387 people had returned home, with 173,776 people remaining in displacement sites. This represents a 71.2 per cent decrease compared to the peak on 27 December, when 649,018 people were displaced. Subsequent official updates indicate that some displaced people have begun returning to their homes; however, movements remain limited and uneven across provinces. The largest displaced populations continue to be concentrated in Siem Reap (46,706) and Banteay Meanchey (18,295), together accounting for more than half of the total displaced population.
While conditions have shown early signs of stabilisation, the situation remains fragile. Ongoing humanitarian needs persist due to displacement, disrupted services, and damage to homes, schools, health facilities, and critical infrastructure—particularly affecting children and other vulnerable groups.
World Vision International in Cambodia has been delivering multi-sectoral humanitarian assistance to displaced children and families across Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health and Nutrition; Protection and Psychosocial Support; Shelter and Non-Food Items; and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in Banteay Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Siem Reap, Battambang, and Oddar Meanchey provinces. Between 11 December 2025 and 9 January 2026, World Vision reached 125,988 displaced people, including 37,759 children, over a thousand of people with disabilities, and over 1,800 pregnant and lactating women, through the provision of food assistance, learning materials, child-friendly spaces, hygiene and sanitation facilities, nutrition support, shelter items, and psychosocial services.
