The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport participated in the inaugural Global School Meals Coalition summit in Paris, collaborating with governments and partners to enhance the quality, sustainability and scalability of national school meals programmes and complementary interventions. Given France’s convening role, prior to the summit, the Ambassador of France to Cambodia joined the minister and WFP's representative on a visit to Angserei Primary School in Kampong Chhnang to witness the national programme in action. The school serves hot, nutritious breakfast to over 200 schoolchildren, exemplifying Cambodia’s long-standing success in implementing the programme and achieving positive outcome.

As part of strategic preparation for the upcoming school year, WFP and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport organized targeted training for 200 sub-national officials from 10 provinces. The training focused on supplier selection, a critical aspect of the homegrown school feeding programme. In Pursat, consultations were conducted with key stakeholders and suppliers to refine the procurement model. The insights and feedback gathered will be instrumental in piloting an enhanced model, ensuring the programme’s effectiveness and success.
