  • The United States Government has awarded a USD 15.2 million grant for the next two fiscal years to WFP’s School Meals and Take-Home Rations programmes through the USDA McGovern-Dole initiative.

Operational Updates

  • In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, WFP conducted a refresher training on “Mobile Data Collection and Complaint System” on 11 July, in Prey Veng province. The objective of the training was to develop capacity of the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) focal points of the Primary Education Department, the Province Education Office, and all District Education Offices, who are involved with the implementation of the real-time M&E systems pilot for the scholarship programme.

  • The Humanitarian Response Forum, the Cambodia Humanitarian Forum and the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) co-facilitated the 2nd Cambodia Response and Review Exercise (CamREx) in July 2016. The objective of this exercise was to enhance the response capacity of the disaster management committees by improving planning, preparedness, communications and action. Two provincial exercises in Kampong Thom and Battambang brought together government disaster management actors from the village, commune, district and provincial levels, as well as representatives of international and national NGOs and the United Nations. The national-level exercise involved the NCDM, line ministries, the Cambodian Red Cross, International and national NGOs and United Nations agencies. Funding for the exercise was provided by USAID/ Office for Foreign Disaster Assistance and WFP’s Readiness Initiative.
