Irrigation and Pest Management Are Key as Mangoes Enter Vegetative Growth in Most Areas

Key Highlights

• December was marked by dry season conditions with rainfall across the four target provinces remaining minimal as expected.

• The Agricultural Stress Index indicates minimal water stress across Kampong Thom, while localized moderate stress was observed in Varin district, Siem Reap, affecting 6 percent of cropland.

• Mangoes across the Northern Tonle Sap Basin are in the Vegetative Growth stage, requiring irrigation, nutrient management, and weed control to support healthy tree development.

• Rice crop development is progressing fastest in Kampong Thom, with higher indicator values pointing to potential pest and disease risks in advanced growth stages.
