1. As the situation in Côte d'Ivoire is continuously worsening and the number of refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) is rapidly increasing, the Korean government has decided to provide additional humanitarian aid worth 500,000 dollars through the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

※ As of April 12, there have been around 500 deaths, 120,000 refugees and some 800,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

○ The Korean government donated 300,000 dollars to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on February 11 to provide relief to refugees from Côte d'Ivoire flowing into Liberia in massive numbers, and to the Internally Displaced Persons in Côte d'Ivoire.

2. The financial aid of the Korean government will be used mainly in refugee protection and food aid sectors, where humanitarian aid is in high demand, to provide relief to the surging refugees in Côte d'Ivoire.
