Ivory Coast emergency: 110,000 refugees urgently need your help

Escalating violence over the past few weeks has forced over 110,000 refugees to flee the Ivory Coast over the border into Liberia.

Ken Kerseh, pictured above, had to carry the burden of her nine-month old twins, a girl and a boy, leaving her husband back home. She does not now know where he is.

The influx has put huge pressure on already limited resources in Liberia, a country where 85% of people live below the poverty line.

ActionAid has already helped 4,800 people, with rice, canned food, soap and other essential supplies. We have focused our efforts on the most vulnerable: pregnant women and those with very young children, the disabled, the elderly and the critically ill.

We're doing everything we can, but we urgently need your donations. Another 400,000 people have fled their homes, and as more and more of them cross the border the situation is becoming desperate.
