Background
Following the disputed presidential elections in November 2010, Côte d’Ivoire has plunged in to a political crisis. Fear and anticipation of widespread violence has already triggered international and internal displacement. Over 135,000 Ivorian refugees have been reported in neighbouring countries, most notably Liberia, while over 700,000 people have been internally displaced. Besides the possible violence, prolonged political standstill would aggravate human suffering and consequently will increase humanitarian needs. The humanitarian access to beneficiaries in Côte d’Ivoire remains a key concern.
Due to the prevailing situation, the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) has called for the activation of clusters including the Logistics Cluster.
