In November, WFP assisted 946,014 people with USD 3.1 million in cash-based transfers (CBT) and 1,010 metric tons of food. School meals reached 800,907 children through a mix of CBT worth USD 2.43 million and 211 metric tons of in-kind food. The CBT allowed schools to source food directly from local farmers and cooperatives, boosting community markets while improving children’s nutrition. Together with the Government of Burundi, WFP also updated the Emergency Preparedness Capacity Index (EPCI) to assess institutional readiness for emergencies.
