Highlights
More than 30,000 people received housing and non-food item (NFI) assistance in 11 provinces in 2018.
5,022 IDPs were relocated to Rumonge and Bujumbura Rural after the decommissioning of the four IDP sites.
57,000 refugees from Tanzania under the VolRep received an NFI kit and a multipurpose cash grant.
Sector warehouse in Bujumbura consolidated for emergency response. National contingency stock ready to serve more than 600HH from Bujumbura and Gitega.
Strong increase in cash activities for shelter activities.
Improvement of the natural disaster and returnee response in the last months of 2018 thanks to CERF UFE.
Challenges
Lack of funding for emergency response, including lack of in-kind donations.
After the food emergency response of April/May, the sector warehouse was emptied. NFI kits and Emergency Shelters must be refilled before next rainy season.
Diffcult access to afected areas due to road conditions
HLP challenges. Returnees unable to provide documentation.
