On 25 July 2023, Didro, a locality in the commune of Guéguéré (province of Ioba in the South-West region), was attacked by a non-state armed group. At least ten civilians were killed, three seriously injured and mobile phone antennas set on fire. Some residents have left the locality.

These multiple attacks against the populations lead to the increase in population movements converging to urban and peri-urban areas, thus accentuating the problem of housing (especially with the rainy season) and access to the means of production.

Since January 2023 more than 187,000 new displacements have been recorded in only three regions of Burkina Faso (Centre-Nord, Sahel, Est) with gaps in the humanitarian response in the sectors of shelter, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and education in emergencies.
