A delegation of Deputy Chiefs from the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) had a three-day visit to Burkina Faso. The purpose visit was to draw attention to the crisis in Burkina Faso, mobilize resources for humanitarian action, and to support initiatives promoting durable solutions for crisisaffected communities.
The security situation continues to drive people from their homes. More than 68,000 new displacements were reported during the month, including more than 34,000 people displaced from the communes of Boala, Tougouri and Pissila to the town of Pissila in the Centre Nord region. In addition, 16,000 people were displaced from the communes of Kiembara and Tougan to the town of Kiembara in the Boucle du Mouhoun region. Providing rapid response support for the newly displaced has been further complicated by the nationwide suspension of cash assistance during the month.
Humanitarian partners continue to respond to the needs of internally displaced people and host communities in hard-to-reach areas via humanitarian air services. Over 727 MT of food assistance were delivered during the month, including 246 MT to Bourzanga in the Centre Nord region to support more than 50,000 displaced people and host communities.
