Civilians continue to face a worrying protection crisis (intimidation, assassinations, kidnappings, physical violence). Gender-based violence has also been reported, particularly in the locality of Dougouri, 5 km from Titao in the Nord region, and in the village of Doulg-Toéghin, around 15 km east of the town of Pissila in the Centre-Nord region, where women have reportedly been beaten. Insecurity continues to drive people from their homes. More than 20,000 new displacements were reported in these regions in February.

Humanitarian partners continue to respond to people’s needs, particularly in hard-to-reach areas. In early February, humanitarian partners organized a food distribution operation in Pissila for 988 households (6916 people). A total of 115 MT of food consisting of maize, rice, beans, oil and salt were distributed. Over 756 MT of food assistance were delivered during the month, including 285 MT to Bourzanga in the Centre-Nord region through humanitarian air services.
