Continued insecurity to the North of Burkina Faso, in the border area with Mali and Niger, has triggered another wave of population displacement.

Another 1 844 people have had to flee their homes, bringing the total number of internally displaced to 39 731. This new wave of displacement concerns mostly children (1 317), forced to flee the village of Tounté located in the north-east of the Soum Province. In the past 12 months, the number of internally displaced in Burkina Faso has multiplied from 5 000 to approximately 40 000 as the security situation continues to deteriorate.
