Bulgarian Embassy in Berlin provides hundreds of thousands euro aid for flood victims in Bulgaria

After the devastating flooding in Bulgaria at the end of June the Bulgarian Embassy in Berlin undertook active measures in support of the disaster-hit regions by providing material and technical aid aimed at overcoming the consequences more quickly. The Bulgarian mission effectively coordinated the processing of equipment sent by a number of federal and provincial German institutions.

The Bulgarian Ambassador in Berlin Meglena Plougchieva reported on the funds collected so far, intended for the National Fire and Emergency Service. The equipment, which has already been supplied and has been put into operation, was provided by: the Senate of the City of Berlin - two fire engine to the total value of 50,000 euro; Federal Agency for Technical Relief - eight power generators, 12 air heaters, 105 water pumps; the Senate of Hamburg - ten pumps; the Fire Department in Frankfurt am Main personally presented General Kiril Voinov with 50 radio stations with vehicle recharge modules.

At the moment the Bulgarian Embassy in Berlin is continuing to coordinate and collect new aid.

A Daimler Benz fire engine, a Volkswagen van, and Audi ambulance, ten radio stations and other items were provided by the North Rhein Westfalia province.

Baden-Württemberg province sent a Daimler-Benz fire engine, Thuringia - a cutting and polishing machine and four radio stations, the province of Bavaria - a trailer with a lifting pump and ten oxygen apparata.

The aid is ready to be transported to Bulgaria, Ambassador Meglena Plougchieva said.
