Bulgaria: Three municipalities declared emergency state after the latest torrential rains

Today, at 11 a.m., Minister Filiz Husmenova, chairman of the standing governmental committee on protection against disasters, is visiting the municipality of Ihtiman to examine on the spot the situation there after the torrential rains that hit the country over the past two days. The torrential rains on 4 and 5 August flooded buildings in the vicinity of Rakovska Str., Vassil Levksi Str.,etc. The sewerage facilities could not drain the water, which reached up to 1 meter in some streets. 1500 people from Istok and Mativir residential districts have been evacuated in D. Milchev School and St Cyril and Methodius School. Ihtiman's industrial zone has also been flooded. A working group has been formed to examine the situation and take measures towards the recovery from the damages in the affected regions.
