The German company donated the funds for the floods- hit towns of Turgovishte and Veliko Turnovo
Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev received a donation of EUR 500 000 from .ON. Energie AG. The funds will be channeled into the recovery from the aftermath in the floods-hit towns of Turgovishte and Veliko Turnovo. The Chairman of the Board of Management of E.ON. Bulgaria Manfred Paasch and the Senior Vice President of the company Markus Kaune granted the donation to the Prime Minister. Bulgarian Deputy Minister and Disaster Management Minister Emel Etem and Minister of Economy and Energy Rumen Ovcharov also attended the ceremony.
Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev thanked E.ON. Management for the donation, pointing out that it was a sign of solidarity with Bulgaria and the people affected by the torrential rains. The financial aid is the biggest private donation made so far. It is my hope that a lot of Bulgarian and international companies will follow the example, because our country needs assistance, Prime Minister pointed out. E.ON. representatives, the Bulgarian Red Cross and the Ministry of the National Policy on Disaster Management will take charge of the allocation of the funds to ensure they will reach those most in need.
As a Bulgaria-based company, we are aware of the enormous responsibility we have in the country, and we believe that through this donation we will help the needy in the regions affected by the floods, marked the Chairman of the Board of Management of E.ON. Bulgaria Manfred Paasch. I heartily thank Prime Minister for his assistance in ensuring that the financial aid reaches the people form Turgovishte and Veliko Turnovo, he added.
