Summary: CHF 172,726 CHF was allocated from the IFRC’s Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) on 3 October 2013 to support the Bulgarian Red Cross Society in delivering assistance to some 2,000 beneficiaries and to replenish its disaster preparedness stocks.

After the assessment made in the autumn of 2013, the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) has assisted 1, 287 people residing in two temporary centres in the capital city, Sofia (Voenna rampa and Vrajdebna) with nonfood items, 350 children with children`s kits and 500 people with special needs (elderly people, lonely mothers, children and people with disabilities) with additional non–food items for covering their basic needs at the centres.

Psychosocial support (PSP) was provided to approximately 500 children for the period of the operation on a weekly basis. This was also linked to the improved psychological condition of their parents (approx. 350 people).

Restoring family links (RFL) has been an on-going activity at the camps from the beginning of the operation till the moment of reporting just like PSP activities
