UNHCR Launches Global Appeal 2025
UNHCR has launched a US$10 billion appeal for 2025 to address the critical needs of millions of refugees, displaced persons, and stateless people worldwide. This appeal comes amid escalating humanitarian crises, as conflict, persecution and the growing impacts of climate change continue to force millions from their homes and aims to support over 139 million individuals across 136 countries and territories, focusing on emergency response, inclusion, and long-term solutions. The appeal draws attention to multiple urgent refugee situations, including the worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan, the ongoing struggles faced by Afghan and Rohingya refugees and the critical situation in Ukraine and Lebanon that require sustained international support. In the Americas, UNHCR highlights the need for strengthened cooperation to manage mixed movements and ensure protection for refugees, asylum-seekers and other forcibly displaced people, with an imperative call for global collaboration and immediate funding to not only meet immediate humanitarian needs but also create sustainable solutions that ensure long-term protection, inclusion and integration.
