FOREST FIRES: As of last week, 13,440 forest fires were registered in October in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. Authorities declared a 90-day state of emergency for 12 cities.
RAINS AND FLOODS: In Guatemala, 2,325 people were affected by flooding in the departments of Escuintla, Retalhuleu and Suchitepéquez due to rains during the last week.
VOLCANO: The Turrialba Volcano, in Costa Rica shows signs of mid-level activity for its second week. Authorities continue to monitor the small eruptions and seismic activity.
