Rio de Janeiro in state of alert due to flooding from February 29, 2016: A cold front, causing a storm since February 29, 2016, should continue to affect the state at least until the weekend. The storm flooded streets, downed trees, and caused more than 40 areas of flooding and disrupted traffic from the north to the south of the city. Santos Dumont airport was closed and approximately 50 flights were canceled until night.
