On Saturday, May 17, the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods worth 10 million yen (Tents, sleeping pads, etc.) to Bosnia and Herzegovina, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in response to the request from the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina following serious damage from the floods in the country.

Northern and Central Bosnia and Herzegovina suffer from floods caused by heavy rain from May 12 to 14. The local media reported, as of 8 pm [Japan time], May 17, 14 people were dead and approximately 13,000 people took refuge from floods.

The Government of Japan decided to provide emergency assistance from a humanitarian point of view for the victims as well as in light of the friendly relationship between Japan and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
