Bosnia Herzegovina: New project "Stimulating development of agriculture in the region of Mostar"

Implementation of the new project "Stimulating development of agriculture in the region of Mostar" begins in May 2005. Overall goal of the project is to raise employment rate in agriculture in the region.

Project's objectives are creation of the market-oriented producers, rising range and quality of vegetables', fruit's and grape growing productions through production of high quality seedlings, control and monitoring of vegetable, fruit and grape growing production, as well as support to already existing and newly-established producers' unions. Project will focus at production of vegetables in green houses, production of cherries and vines. Project target group is made of agricultural producers and agricultural unions from the region, particularly returnee families in Ortiješ, Lakšavine and other places in the region.

The project is a regional component of the project "Stimulating fruit and vegetable production in the region of Banja Luka-Tuzla" of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, implemented by GTZ. Project office in Mostar will be opened to support implementation of the project. Project duration is two years, and its budget amounts to 1,43 mio CHF.
