1. INTRODUCTION
This submission for the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been prepared by the Global Detention Project (GDP), a non-profit organisation based in Geneva that promotes the human rights of people who have been detained for reasons related to their non-citizen status; Collective Aid, which provides dignifying services that cover the main basic aid gaps in the lives of those who are in transit, seeking a home and safety; and the Border Violence Monitoring Network, a horizontal, self-organised network denouncing pushbacks, other human rights violations, and broader forms of violence against people on the move at and within European borders.
This submission focuses on human rights concerns with respect to the treatment of migrants and asylum seekers who have been arrested or detained in Bosnia and Herzegovina for reasons related to their immigration status, conditions in temporary reception facilities, and reports of pushbacks.
