Bosnia and Herzegovina: Strategy for reconciliation

From IFRC Weekly News 06/00
The International Federation Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in its efforts to encourage the reconciliation process and develop the entity Red Cross Organisations in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska, has begun the translation of the Strategy 2010 document in Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian. The purpose is to ensure that, going beyond ethnic differences, the Strategy, will reach all corners of BiH and the thousands of volunteers and staff who make the work of the two Red Cross organisations possible. They are keeping hope alive and supporting the many vulnerable people who are still suffering in Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the lack of the basic resources for survival. More than four years after the war, the need to promote reconciliation between the three communities is still present and the local Red Cross structures have been active in this respect and well placed to play an important role in this process.
