The Appeal

Thousands of vulnerable migrants are facing a cold and dangerous journey across Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and are in desperate need of support, as are many host communities. The Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) are responding.

Snapshot

The number of migrants arriving in BiH (a transit country) in 2018 has jumped from 237 in January to more than 5,000 by October, and the number is projected to double in 2019.
The Red Cross of BiH and IFRC operation will provide support - in shelter and relief items livelihoods and basic needs, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, gender, protection and inclusion, and disaster risk reduction – to 7,600 of the most vulnerable migrants every two weeks for 12 months, and to 1,500 host communities for two months.
