A recent powerful storm has caused serios demages in the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina - municipality of Srbac, located in the Republic of Srpska. The storm has affected more than 100 households, with over 15 residential buildings suffering devastation of the roof. Inside these homes, many rooms have been severely affected by the storm's force.
The local elementary school faced a dire situation as the storm tore off its roof, leading to the urgent evacuation of the students. The floodwaters breached over 70 residential properties, causing extensive damage, while in 20 homes, the flood wave has decimated almost everything essential for the residents' daily activities. The agricultural sector also took a hit, with 7 chicken farms and 3 pig farms sustaining damage. The crops in the area have been severely impacted as well. The disruption in communication further exacerbates the challenges faced by the community.
The local branch of the Red Cross has focus it's activities on assesment of the needs of the affected population, ensuring that all actions in providing humanitarian resposne is in line with the real needs of the endangered. In response to the significant damages and the hardships endured by the local population, the municipality of Srbac has declared a state of natural disaster.
