UMCOR is providing food relief, shelter materials, livelihood support, micro-credit assistance, and business development services to 9,000 survivors in Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga and Zambales provinces.
UMCOR Philippines is also working with local partners Harris Memorial College, Union Theological Seminary, Asuncion A. BOLIVIA: FASTING FOR THE GIFT OF WATER
Bolivia is the second poorest nation in the western hemisphere. Most people live below two dollars a day and are without basic potable water, sanitation or irrigations systems.
UMCOR-supported Engineers in Action (EIA), a non-profit organization formed out of a partnership between the Oklahoma Annual Conference and Iglesia Evangelica Metodista en Bolivia (IEMB), is encouraging a fast to raise money to support the gift of water.
Sponsors are invited to participate in the We Fast So They Can Drink campaign by donating one dollar an hour or more, for 36 hours. The fundraiser began in early December, with donations benefiting EIA's work, supporting water and sanitation projects for more than 10,000 people in remote villages throughout Bolivia.
