RAINS AND FLOODS: The Peruvian Ministry of Health has declared Yellow Alert in all health facilities in the country due to increased rainfall in the north of the country and the occurrence of landslides in the central area.

ZIKA VIRUS: The World Bank expects that the Zika virus outbreak will have an economic impact of US$3.5 billion on the region in 2016.

VOLCANIC ACTIVITY: Five volcanoes in Nicaragua are active but have not yet created humanitarian needs. In Ecuador, authorities raised the level of alert for the Tungurahua Volcano due to a rise in activity.

MIGRANTS: Cuban migrants in Costa Rica and Panama continue to move towards Mexico. There are some 2,000 migrants in Costa Rica and 500 in Panama.
