Bolivia - Severe weather, update (MINDEF, PAHO, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 07 February 2025)

  • Several departments of Bolivia continue to experience heavy rainfall that is causing widespread floods, triggering landslides and resulting in an increasing number of casualties and damage.
  • According to the Ministry of Defence of Bolivia (MINDEF), as of 5 February, 23 people died across the departments of Chuquisaca, La Paz, Tarija, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz and Potosí while there are missing people in Chuquisaca and La Paz departments.
  • In the past few days, 100 families have been affected and 30 others evacuated in Cobija city, Pando department, following widespread floods that affected different districts of the city.
  • National authorities will provide in the coming days humanitarian aid for those affected in Potosí, Chuquisaca and Santa Cruz departments.
  • For the next 48 hours, moderate to locally very heavy rainfall is forecast over most parts of central, western, eastern and northern Bolivia.
