The humanitarian impact of the rainy season, which is hitting several parts of Bolivia, is increasing. Reyes, Borja, Rurrenabaque and Riberalta towns in the Beni Department of northern Bolivia are the most affected.
According to media, as of 22 March, at least 49 people died, 324,699 families have been displaced across 3,937 communities, more than 700,000 people have been affected, 708 houses have been destroyed, and several temporary shelters have been set up. Beni department and 81 municipalities declared a state of disaster.
National authorities have deployed 4,020 personnel to assist the affected people.
For the next 48 hours, more rainfall is forecast over central Bolivia.
