Bolivia - Severe Weather and floods, update (Government of Bolivia, DG ECHO, Copernicus EMSR, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 16 April 2025)

  • The humanitarian impact in Bolivia continues to worsen due to the ongoing floods triggered by the rainy season, which is affecting most parts of the country.
  • According to the Government of Bolivia, as of 15 April, the death toll has reached 55, with eight people still reported missing. Nearly 2.4 million people have been affected, and a total of 234 municipalities have been impacted. Of these, 135 have declared a state of disaster, while the remaining municipalities have declared a state of emergency.
  • On 7 April, Bolivia requested assistance from the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) for flood rescue boats and equipment, as well as shelter, food, and energy-related items.
  • On 11 April, the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) was activated to provide damage assessment mapping (EMSR799). So far, 7 maps have been produced.
  • For the next 24 hours, moderate rainfall is forecast over northern, central and western Bolivia.
