Bhutan - Flash floods (Floodlist, media, NCHM meteo) media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 24 July 2023)

  • On 20 July, heavy rainfall affected Lhuntse District, north-eastern Bhutan, causing flash floods and landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage.

  • Media report, as of 23 June, six fatalities, 17 missing people and three injured persons. In addition a small hydro-electric plant and paddy fields have been damaged due to flash floods.

  • Over 100 personnel were involved in search, rescue, and relief activities.

  • Over the next 24 hours, more rainfall is forecast over Bhutan, with locally heavy rainfall over the southern part of the country.
